The Co-op Refinery Complex (CRC) donated $60,000 towards the installation of a new play structure at McDermid Community School in Regina, Sask. The donation and equipment will be unveiled as part of a grand opening ceremony at the school on June 16.
"At the heart of our commitment to community is the special relationship we continue to share with McDermid and its students," said Jen Stiglitz, General Manager, Co-op Refinery Complex. "We're proud to invest in our young people, and to continue giving back to the places where we work, live and play."
For more than 25 years, CRC has been a Partner in Education with McDermid. In recent years, Refinery employees have served as readers for students, volunteered at the school's annual Christmas lunch, supported special events, collected donations of clothing and gifts, and sent countless school supplies.
"The Co-op Refinery Complex and McDermid Community School have enjoyed a lasting partnership, one that continues to provide much needed support to our students and their families," said Bob Phillips, Principal - McDermid Community School. "We can't thank the Refinery, and its employees, enough for all it does."
"There is nothing more precious than a child's smile," said Stiglitz. "Our investment will help fuel fun, excitement and lasting memories for the McDermid Community."
"Long-term commitment to our communities and especially to our students' experiences at school is one of the key elements in ensuring student success," said Cindy Anderson, Trustee for McDermid Community School. "Co-op Refinery Complex has been an exceptional partner and this donation creates a lasting legacy for young people and for the community"
