New Acting Principal at Beechy Colony School

Treena Watterodt will be the new Acting Principal for Beechy Colony School in the 2024-25 school year.

"We are very happy that Treena will be stepping into the Principal role next year," said Sun West Director of Education Vicki Moore. "She was great as a teacher at Beechy Colony School and I think she will continue to shine as Principal." She added.

In 1990, Ms. Watterodt received a Bachelor of Arts from Augustana University College in Camrose Alberta and in 1992 she received her Bachelor of Education, specializing in Elementary Education, from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. She is also certified in Teaching English as a Second Language by the University of Saskatchewan.

In 1993, Ms. Watterodt started her teaching career at the Camrose Children's Centre as an Early Childhood Educator and also did a stint as an English as a Second Language Teacher in Wakayama City, Japan. Between 1995 and 2003 she held a variety of elementary and middle years teaching positions in New Norway, Alberta, Camrose, the Louis Bull First Nation near Hobbema, Alberta and Gwynne School in Wetaskiwin, Alberta.

Starting 2008, Ms. Watterodt has been working in Sun West School Division except for the period from 2017 to 2020 when she worked as an After School Coordinator for Mar Jok Elementary School in West Kelowna, British Columbia and at John Paul II Collegiate in North Battleford. Her assignments in Sun West have included the Rosetown Pre-School, Kindersley Composite School, Westberry Elementary School, North West Central School in Plenty, Rosetown Central High School, Kyle Composite School, the Independent Education Program in Rosetown and most recently the Beechy Colony School. At these schools and program, Ms. Watterodt gained experience teaching in a number of diverse areas including: Career Education and Work Exploration, High School English Language Arts, Drama and Art, as well as teaching most Elementary, Middle Years and High School grades.

"Although, I have been teaching at the colony for two years," Ms. Watterodt said, "I am excited for the new role as Acting Principal and grateful for the opportunity. I hope my background and knowledge will bring forth a variety of new experiences for myself and the students in 2024-25."
