A new Hutterite Colony has been established near Eston and with it comes a new Colony School. The first principal of the Eston Colony School will be Tawna Hansen.
"We are very happy to have Tawna become Principal at the new Eston Colony School," commented Director of Education Vicki Moore, "she has been a wonderful part of the staff at Eston Composite and I look forward to her contributions in her new role." She added.
Tawna has an Associate Degree from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, and a Bachelor of Education from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.
Ms. Hansen was an Educational Assistant at the Oaklane Hutterite Colony near Taber, Alberta in 1995-96, a Substitute Teacher for the Sun West School Division from 2005 until 2008, and since 2008 on has been teaching at Eston Composite School. At Eston she taught Design Studies 10 and History 10 and also taught Grade 1 and Grade 5. Most recently she has been teaching Kindergarten through Grade 4 Physical Education and Grade 5 Language Arts and Math.
"I am grateful for the experiences and the time I have spent with students and colleagues over the past 16 years teaching at Eston Composite School, said Ms. Hansen. "I am looking forward to this new opportunity, as Eston Colony Principal, and I am excited to face the challenges that will help me grow as an educator." She concluded.
