Timiskaming District Secondary School (TDSS) hosted two CWB Welding Foundation Mind Over Metal Camps over the summer. The camps were generously funded by the CWB Welding Foundation.
The camps were open to all Grade 7 and 8 students in the region interested in the manufacturing sector. The purpose of the camp is to introduce youth across Canada to welding as a fun, rewarding career opportunity. Over the five days, participants learned the basics of welding safety and techniques. They also had the chance to visit NorArc, leaders in design, engineering and fabrication.
The CWB Welding Foundation Mind Over Metal Camps have been running since 2014. They have become very popular and students look forward to participating each year.
DSB1 is proud to continue to partner with the CWB Welding Foundation on this important initiative to support student pathways and help to fill gaps in the industry sector in the North.
