On February 23rd and 24th, 2024, the Student Success Department's Pathways team organized an interactive planning, exploration, and experiential learning day with employees of the Raptors 905 professional basketball team.
20 Grade 6 classes from eight elementary schools participated in the event and learned important life skills that can be applied to both the school environment and the workplace - such as problem solving, critical thinking, resilience, teamwork, cooperation and leadership.
Students had the opportunity to listen to a panel of Raptors 905 employees who shared information about their education, skills, and interests that helped them reach their current careers.
During the day, students rotated through six stations of cooperative games. These games focused on the skills discussed by the panel. Each station was led by Raptors 905 staff members and were supported by leadership students from Assumption Catholic Secondary School, as well as student leaders from other HCDSB secondary schools.
