The announcement in January that Fil Lettieri was being promoted to Superintendent of Education has resulted in other changes in the board leadership group.
Corey Gardi has been selected as our newest school principal assuming the role at St. Basil Catholic Elementary School, effective Monday, February 7, replacing Lettieri.
"I am excited to be joining the St. Basil Catholic School community. I look forward to working with fellow staff, along with parish and community partners, to serve the students and families of St. Basil, while continuing to support their journeys in faith and learning," said Gardi.
Corey has been a valued and committed Teacher and Vice-Principal with our board community for the past 20 years and has been in the role of vice principal for the past 13 years. He has done an excellent job at serving several of our elementary schools including Holy Cross, Our Lady of Lourdes, St. Paul, St. Bernadette and St. Mary's French Immersion. We look forward to seeing him share his gifts with the St. Basil's community.
Corey's move to St. Basil created a vacancy for a vice-principal at Holy Cross. St. Paul vice principal Frank Guzzo will be assuming the same role at Holy Cross on Monday, February 7.
Frank has held various roles in his 20-plus year career with our board including Teacher, Assistive Technology Teacher, Vice Principal and Summer Transition School Program Principal. He will be an excellent addition to the Holy Cross community.
"It is with great honour and excitement that I accept the role of Vice Principal at Holy Cross. I am truly looking forward to being part of the school community by contributing to its continued success in Catholic education," said Guzzo.
Finally, Allison Vance has been selected as our newest vice-principal. Allison will be assuming her new role at St. Paul, Monday February 7.
Allison has been an educator with our board for over eighteen years and has served ten school communities in various roles including: classroom teacher, Learning Resource Teacher, school administrator for the Elementary Summer Learning Program for several years and this past summer, school administrator for the Summer Transition to Secondary School Program. We are confident that she will continue to share her gifts with the St. Paul community.
"I am very grateful for the leadership opportunity I have been provided and I look forward to serving the St. Paul school community," said Vance.
Please join us in congratulating Corey, Frank and Allison as they move into their new positions.
