"Stephanie is a creative and forward-thinking educator who consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to student success," said Kylie Hughes, Superintendent of Education. "She leads with faith, compassion and a student-centred focus, and brings a collaborative leadership style and strong foundation in French language education. We are confident her experience and collaborative approach will complement the leadership at SMB."
For Sweeney, the appointment is also a meaningful return to a school that has been part of her life both as a former student and as an SMB parent.
"Having the honour of serving École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys as Vice Principal is not only nostalgic for me, it's foundational," said Stephanie Sweeney. "This school has always felt like family. I have long admired the excellence and dedication of the SMB staff, and I look forward to working alongside them to continue building a community where every student feels known, supported and inspired to grow in faith and learning."
Hilary Aitken, Principal of École Ste-Marguerite Bourgeoys, said Stephanie's strong connection to the school community and extensive experience across the Board make her a natural fit for the role.
"We are thrilled to welcome Stephanie to the leadership team at SMB. She is a respected educator with extensive experience and a warm, approachable leadership style," said Aitken. "Her genuine investment in the success and growth of our students, staff and families, combined with her deep roots in our school community, will be a valuable asset. I look forward to working together as we begin an exciting new school year."
Sweeney will join the SMB leadership team as the school welcomes students back for the 2026-2027 school year and continues its commitment to excellence in French Immersion education within a welcoming, faith-filled learning environment.
