Trustees approve $318-Million 2024-2025 budget

During the June 18 Board Meeting, Niagara Catholic's Board of Trustees approved the Board's $318-million 2024-2025 budget. This represents an increase over the $294-million 2023-2024 budget and focuses on staffing, learning resources, special education support, facilities, and student transportation.

Key Investments in the 2024-2025 budget include:

• $150M Classroom Staffing (Teachers, E.C.Es, EAs)
• $43M Learning Resources (Library Services, Guidance, Mental Health, learning materials, classroom computers and student technological devices)
• $40M Special Education supports
• $24M School Facilities (custodial, maintenance, utilities, portables)
• $13M Student Transportation
• $10M School Board Administration
• $30M in Capital Grants
• $8M in Other Revenue sources (Responsive Education fund, School Generated Funds)

"Niagara Catholic's balanced 2024-2025 is evidence of the excellent work our senior leadership team did to ensure that we continue to comply with provincial regulations and meet the diverse needs of our growing student population," said Chair of the Board Danny Di Lorenzo. "These key investments ensure that students continue to build a strong foundation in core subjects of reading, writing, and mathematics. The investments also provide crucial funding for programs that support Indigenous students and mental health and well-being, along with other upgrades and improvements that are necessary to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff in our schools and sites."

Director of Education Camillo Cipriano thanked everyone who helped to create the 2024-2025 budget.

 "The Board's 2024-2025 budget was created after consultation with a number of stakeholders," said Director Cipriano. "This extremely valuable input allows us to prioritize our areas of investment for the new school year. Thank you to everyone who participated in our 2024-2025 budget process and to the senior leadership team for their thoughtful contributions to our discussions over the past several months. I am confident that we will continue to effectively meet the needs of students and staff within this balanced budget."
