Niagara Catholic is aware of the arrest of a staff member on January 24.
The arrest came as a result of a Niagara Regional Police investigation into an alleged incident at St. Alfred Catholic Elementary School in 2024. The alleged incident was reported to Family and Children's Services (FACS) by Niagara Catholic staff in accordance with Ministry of Education requirements.
We are troubled by the nature of these charges. The individual was placed on leave at the start of an internal investigation. Niagara Catholic will continue to cooperate with Niagara Regional Police throughout their investigation.
As a Catholic community, we pray for everyone affected by this situation.
