NIAGARA CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
Niagara Catholic shares 2024-2025 EQAO, OSSLT results

December 4, 2025

The Education, Quality, and Accountability Office (EQAO) has released the board and provincial results for primary and junior assessments in reading, writing, and mathematics, the Grade 9 mathematics assessment, and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) for 2024-2025.

Niagara Catholic's 2024-2025 elementary results continue to exceed the provincial averages in all areas. They also represent improvement over our results from 2023-2024. Results for students writing the Grade 9 mathematics assessment and the Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) who successfully completed the assessment on their first attempt also exceeded the provincial average and remain steady over the board's results in 2023-2024.

"I am pleased to see continued improvement in Niagara Catholic's EQAO and OSSLT assessment scores," said Chair of the Board Danny Di Lorenzo. "But these assessment results are truly only a snapshot of how a specific student or grade level did on a specific day. To truly evaluate a student's progress, human variables must be considered. Niagara Catholic's teachers, principals, and support staff recognize that success looks different for every student. They know each student's stories and know that success is more than a student getting a high grade on a test; it's also about watching a student grow in confidence, make new friends, or participate in projects and discussions."

Director of Education Camillo Cipriano said Niagara Catholic's 2024-2025 assessment results are proof of the board's ongoing commitment to student success.

"Niagara Catholic continues to make student success a priority, and the board's 2024-2025 EQAO results are a testament to this commitment," said Director Cipriano. "I am grateful for the hard work and collaboration shown by our teachers, principals, and staff in our Program and Innovation Department, whose willingness to embrace new concepts, lead with enthusiasm, and create and adopt dynamic teaching strategies, engaged students in learning. We will continue to build upon this strong foundation to ensure that students graduate from our schools prepared to enter post- secondary education, embark on an apprenticeship, or enter the workforce.

I am also very proud of our students, not only those who participated in assessments last year. Every day our students challenge themselves in new and different ways. These are also very important measures of student success."
