SAINT PAUL UNIVERSITY
SPU Full-Time Professors Union Ratifies New Collective Agreement

May 27, 2024

Saint Paul University and the union representing full-time professors have signed a new collective agreement.

The University administration and the Professors' Association of Saint Paul University (PASPU) initiated negotiations in March of this year and have ratified their collective agreement this week.

The new 3-year collective agreement has a retroactive start date of May 1, 2024 and will end April 30, 2027.

"Our professors are essential to the student experience and are all valued members of the university community. This agreement reflects our shared commitment to fostering a positive working relationship," shared Carole Audet, Associate vice rector, Talent, Diversity, Culture. "I want to thank the PASPU for their openness and collaboration throughout the bargaining process.  We look forward to continuing our collaboration to advance the university's academic mission of research and education excellence."

"I want to thank our negotiation team for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the bargaining process," said Amanda Wilson, President of PASPU "We are proud to have reached a new collective agreement that addresses the needs and concerns of our members, and which will contribute to the increased well-being of our academic community."

Prior to negotiations, a University-wide well-being survey indicated that financial health was among the chief concerns for faculty members. The new collective agreement acknowledges current economic realities and makes steps to address this issue.

The new collective agreement also gives greater clarity for the diverse membership's roles and responsibilities, as well as support for faculty supervising doctoral students.
