The Superior-Greenstone District School Board (SGDSB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Annick Brewster as the new Assistant Superintendent: School Effectiveness, beginning on March 1, 2024. Ms. Brewster assumes this role, which became vacant after the resignation of School Effectiveness Lead Kellie Wrigley at the end of January.
Ms. Brewster brings a wealth of experience and leadership to her new position, particularly in Special Education. His leadership in spearheading initiatives that led to notable improvements in student outcomes and school culture has earned him the respect and admiration of colleagues and community members alike.
The District School Board takes great pride in its Special Education program, which strives to provide multiple supports to ensure the best education possible for each student.
Committed to the principles of integration and prioritizing human rights and equity practices, the school board ensures equal access to meaningful education for all students, regardless of their exceptionality.
Thanks to the dedicated leadership of multiple highly skilled staff members, the Superior-Greenstone District School Board continues to provide a wide range of services across its expansive service area, ensuring inclusive access to education for all students. The programs within the school board are designed to ensure universal access to education, aligning with the fundamental principles of our society. These programs cater to students with exceptionalities, ensuring they have the opportunity to achieve the same educational goals as their peers.
Hired personnel responsible for special education programs and services within the school board include teachers for in-class programs, Special Education Teachers (SET), Educational Assistants, teachers for the blind and visually impaired, a Positive Behaviour Support Lead and Positive Behaviour Support Interventionist, a Learning for All (Special Education) System Principal, Special Education Facilitators and most recently two additional regionally based Positive Behaviour Support Interventionists.
