The Upper Canada District School Board is pleased to share that the Ministry of Education has approved funding for an addition at Cambridge Public School in Embrun.
This project, which is a $11.3 million investment, will add 427 pupil places to the main building of the school.
As part of this project, five kindergarten classrooms will be added to the school, 12 regular classrooms, a resource room and a new space for special education programs and support. The parking area, bus lanes, and drop off areas will also be amended and upgraded.
"The UCDSB is excited to receive approval for the extension to Cambridge Public School. It's a school in a growing community and we are looking forward to providing a larger and enhanced learning environment for the students and families in the area. From my conversations with parents and guardians about this project, I know they are going to be just as thrilled about this news as we are," said local UCDSB Trustee Corina Parisien. "We are very appreciative that the provincial government and local MPP Stephane Sarrazin has committed to investing in this school."
"On behalf of the school board, I want to sincerely thank the government for this critical investment in our students and community," added UCDSB Chair Jamie Schoular. "This $11.3 million expansion will provide much-needed learning spaces and resources, ensuring that our growing student population has the best possible environment to thrive. We appreciate the government's support in making this project a reality."
The project is now moving into the planning and preparation stage. The expected opening date of the addition is September 2028.
