The Upper Grand District School Board proudly hosted its annual Elementary Skills Competition earlier this month at the University of Guelph's W.F. Mitchell Athletic Centre. The event brought together students from across the board to showcase their problem-solving, collaboration, and technical abilities in an action-packed day of friendly competition.
In partnership with the Ontario Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) program, the competition aimed to foster innovation, teamwork, and curiosity in young learners. From building mechanical marvels out of LEGO to demonstrating tech design ingenuity, students rose to the challenge in a variety of categories designed to mirror real-world skills and careers.
Parents, educators, and supporters filled the venue with cheers and encouragement, creating a vibrant atmosphere as students put their creativity and teamwork to the test. Those who won in the following Skills Competition categories, will be moving onto the Provincial Competition in Toronto the first week of May.
