Results of Chair and Vice Chair Election

At the Inaugural Meeting of the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB), held on Monday, November 18, 2024, Elizabeth Crowe, Trustee for Aurora/King/Whitchurch-Stouffville, was acclaimed Chair of the Board and Maria Iafrate, Trustee for Richmond Hill, was acclaimed Vice Chair of the Board. 

Chair and Vice Chair elections are held annually at the YCDSB's Inaugural Board Meeting in November. Both Chair Crowe and Vice Chair Iafrate were returned to the positions they served in during the previous school year. 

"I am totally committed to working with each and every one of the Trustees at this table and the members of the Senior Team," said Chair Crowe after being acclaimed. "I know York Catholic is the best Board in the province. Not just the best Catholic Board, but the best Board in the province We will give people reasons to believe in Catholic education." 

Vice Chair Iafrate echoed Chair Crowe's comments about working together, especially during this time when the education system faces many challenges.

Before the election, Interim Director of Education John De Faveri thanked Chair Crowe and Vice Chair Iafrate for their service and added, "To all our Trustees, I look forward to continue working with you in the best interests of Catholic education and the many people enriched by it. Thank you for your continued dedicated service to the York Catholic District School Board."
