Students in the Keswick HS Hospitality Program gain valuable work experience, build employability skills and give back to their community.
This unique program connects students with hands-on opportunities in the school's cafeteria preparing meals and supporting the school's breakfast, snack and food bank programs. Along the way, students learn teamwork, time management, and critical thinking skills essential for their futures.
"This program has helped me to be a critical thinker," said Adam, a Grade 11 student at Keswick HS. "When you're cooking, you have to be careful with the ingredients that you make, and if you mess up one step, the whole recipe is cooked so you've got to be careful with your ingredients. It teaches you how to observe what you're doing, pay attention to detail."
"We do everything we can for every student at Keswick High to make it feel like this is their home," said Amanda Tweddell, Developmental Support Worker, Keswick HS.
