Discover how French-language education in Canada is encoded in our country's DNA

Discover the past and present contributions of Francophone minority communities to the building of Canada through the common thread of French-language education, thanks to Édu EXPO. 

This bilingual exhibition, complemented by a website and educational guides, will travel to 12 Canadian cities between February and May: Whitehorse, Vancouver, Regina, Winnipeg, Sudbury, Toronto, Charlottetown, Halifax, St. John's, Edmonton, Ottawa and Moncton. 

Édu EXPO is an initiative of the Fédération nationale des conseils scolaires francophones (FNCSF). The event and related tools were made possible thanks to financial support from the Government of Canada as part of Canadian Confederation's 150th anniversary celebrations.  

The exhibition showcases the history as well as the specificity, vitality and added value of French-language schools, and highlights the pivotal moments of Francophones' struggles in English-language majority provinces and territories in Canada over the past 400 years to preserve French first-language education.    

"Students in the network of French-language schools in Canada in 2017 exemplify our country's linguistic duality more than ever before", stated FNCSF President Melinda Chartrand. "They evolve in a rich cultural environment where concern for their well-being and success prevails, and their lifelong bilingualism ensures excellent employment prospects", she added.  

"We are grateful to the Government of Canada for allowing us, through its Canada 150 program, to make Canadians aware of the role that French-language schools in Canada play in educating citizens who take part in their community and their country's social, cultural and economic development by spreading Francophonie in a multitude of accents", said FNCSF Executive Director, Roger Paul.
