LCI Education, of which LaSalle College Montréal is a part, has officially signed the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Accord. This significant commitment demonstrates LCI Education's and its 23 campuses worldwide's dedication to actively promoting positive change through education and placing sustainable development at the forefront of its core value, deeply ingrained in its culture and operations.
It was during Sustainable Development Goals week in Canada, held from March 4 to 8, that Dr. Jason Dewling, the Chief Learning Officer at LaSalle College Vancouver, officially took this significant step towards sustainability:
"LCI Education has been a firm supporter of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal's for several years. Signing the SDG Accord is simply formalizing our commitment in a public way. The UNSDG's have been widely embraced by our organization and each new course throughout our global network is being mapped against these goals", states Dewling.
LaSalle College actively engages in environmental preservation by taking measures such as purchasing carbon offsets for its student's travel and Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) for colleagues who travel with Air Canada.
LCI Education stands out as a pioneer in sustainable development education. By integrating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its programs, operations, and corporate culture, LaSalle College empowers its students and staff to initiate positive changes locally and globally.
The SDGs Agreement represents more than just a commitment; it is a call to action. The College encourages its students and partners to join it in promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to create a more sustainable future for all. Together, we can have a significant impact on the world.
What is the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agreement?
The SDG Accord represents more than just a symbolic gesture; it symbolizes a tangible commitment by educational institutions worldwide to actively contribute to achieving the SDGs.
With 361 institutions from 85 countries participating, this global partnership highlights the pivotal role education plays in addressing the world's most pressing challenges. The purpose of the SDG accord is to Inspire, Celebrate, and Advance the critical role that education has in delivering the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the value the interlinked objectives bring to governments, businesses and wider society.
