CONSEIL DES ÉCOLES CATHOLIQUES DU CENTRE-EST
Official Inauguration of CECCE's Saint-Jean-Baptiste Campus in North Central Ottawa

November 12, 2024

On November 7, the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) celebrated the official inauguration of its Saint-Jean-Baptiste campus, a remarkable achievement for francophone education in Ottawa's North Central sector. Enthusiastically welcomed by the community, the new school represents the CECCE's steadfast commitment to meet the growing needs of francophone families in the area.

Since the start of the 2024-2025 school year, the campus has welcomed its first cohort of grade 7 and 8 students, and will continue to grow with the addition of a grade level each year, with the opening of a grade 9 class as early as September 2024.

The event brought together Trustee Jolène Savoie-Day, Trustees Daniel Boudria, Denis Forget and Claude Lalonde, as well as community members, partners, families and students. All were treated to inspiring speeches and a guided tour organized by the students, offering a unique insight into this new learning environment.

Quotations:

CECCE Vice-Chair Daniel Boudria reiterated the board's dedication to the community: "This campus meets a critical need for francophone education in this sector. It symbolizes our community's strength and ability to come together around shared values, as well as the CECCE's commitment to providing a definitive and viable offer to francophone families."

CECCE Director of Education Marc Bertrand highlighted the long-term impact of this undertaking on the school community: "Together with students, parents, staff and the community, we are articulating a vision for education that reflects the needs and aspirations of our youth."

Saint-Jean-Baptiste campus Principal Annie Touchette expressed immense enthusiasm: "Watching these young students grow and develop in such an inspiring learning environment that is so deeply rooted in our history and our Catholic values makes me indescribably proud."

Campus Saint-Jean-Baptiste will hold its Open House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, from 6 to 8 p.m., during which families and the community can come and learn more about the school's programming and operations.
