CONSEIL DES ÉCOLES CATHOLIQUES DU CENTRE-EST
CECCE Stands Out Once Again With Excellent EQAO Results

December 4, 2025

Students of the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) have once again demonstrated outstanding performance on the assessments administered by the Education Quality and Accountability Office (EQAO). Again this year, the CECCE stands out by surpassing the provincial average across all tests and achieving the best results among Francophone school boards in the region, highlighting the strength of its pedagogical approach and the collective commitment to student success among its 30,000 learners.

The EQAO assessments in Grades 3 and 6, as well as the provincial Grade 9 Mathematics test, represent the percentage of students who demonstrated a thorough understanding (Level 4) or a good understanding (Level 3) of the subject evaluated.

The Grade 10 Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) results represent the percentage of students who successfully passed the test.

EQAO Results (Grades 3 and 6)

Grade 3 students at the CECCE outperformed provincial results in all components, once again confirming the strength of early learning within the school board.

  • Reading: CECCE 81% | Province 75%
  • Writing: CECCE 74% | Province 67%
  • Mathematics: CECCE 78% | Province 75%

Grade 6 results demonstrate effective support, particularly in writing, where the CECCE exceeds the provincial rate by eight percentage points.

  • Reading: CECCE 93% | Province 89%
  • Writing: CECCE 87% | Province 79%
  • Mathematics: CECCE 68% | Province 63%

Grade 9 Provincial Mathematics Assessment

Grade 9 students also surpassed the provincial average, demonstrating a strong understanding of Ontario's mathematics curriculum and exceeding Ontario French results by six percentage points.

  • CECCE 72% | Province 66%

Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (Grade 10)

A total of 94% of first-time eligible students who participated successfully passed the OSSLT. This high success rate shows that the vast majority of CECCE students achieve the expected literacy competencies on their first attempt, further strengthening the board's longstanding excellence in literacy.

  • CECCE 94% | Province 93%

Provincial Context: A Call for Improvement and a Strong Governance Model at CECCE

On December 3, Ontario's Ministry of Education announced the creation of an advisory board to review EQAO assessments and provide recommendations aimed at improving student achievement, in response to what the Ministry has described as insufficient progress.

In this context, the CECCE is proud to demonstrate that a stable, collaborative, and forward-looking governance model contributes to strong student outcomes. The board remains committed to offering high-quality learning environments and providing ongoing support to all students.

"This year's results reflect the remarkable work of our students and the caring, dedicated support offered in each school. I warmly congratulate them on these achievements and extend my sincere thanks to staff members and families for their daily commitment," said Johanne Lacombe, Chair of the CECCE.
