INTERSECTION CAMPAIGN
The Bishop Strachan School Announces $1 Million Gift

October 6, 2015

The Bishop Strachan School (BSS) announced a gift of $1 million to its Intersection Campaign. The donation, by BSS alumnae Anne Odette Kaye and Andrea Odette Federer, and Curtis Odette on behalf of the E. & G. Odette Foundation, brings the total raised to $24.5 million on a $35 million goal, the most ambitious in the school's history.

"Philanthropy is the foundation on which BSS stands," says Ms. Federer. "We are so proud to be part of the BSS vision, to be an inspirational force for women to reach their full potential as transformative leaders." Money raised from the campaign will be dedicated to a state-of-the-art Senior School facility designed to support its multi-disciplinary program, as well as increasing financial assistance resources and investing in innovation for faculty enhancement. The new building is expected to open in spring of 2017, in time for the school's 150th anniversary.

"We believe that now is the time to invest in the future by investing in the women who will lead it," says Ms. Kaye. "BSS was a great school when we attended and continues to be a leader in inspiring young women."

Part of the family's gift includes an incentive to generate more support from the alumnae community where participation across all levels of giving will be critical to the campaign's success.

"Our alumnae play such a valuable role in the life of the school," says BSS Head of School Deryn Lavell. "To have the E. & G. Odette Foundation make this incredible investment in our future really shows our students that their community believes in them. The participation of alumnae is especially important, not only to get us to our goal but as a symbol of the solidarity that our students, past, present and future, share."
