RAINBOW SCHOOLS
Rainbow Board and ETFO elementary teachers reach tentative agreement

July 15, 2024

Rainbow District School Board and the Federation representing permanent elementary teachers in Sudbury, Espanola and Manitoulin Island have reached a tentative agreement at the local level.

Details of the agreement will be released once ratified by members of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) Rainbow Local and approved by Rainbow District School Board Trustees.

The new deal, if ratified and approved, will be in effect for the term ending August 31, 2026, aligning with the provincial settlement at the central bargaining table.

"This is great news for our students, staff and parents/guardians," said Rainbow District School Board Chair David Farrow. "Elementary teachers are valued members of our instructional team that ensure continuity of learning in our schools."

He added: "We have so much appreciation for our teachers and the work they do for all students within the Rainbow Board. I want to personally thank the bargaining teams from the Board and the Federation for working diligently to bring these negotiations to a successful conclusion."

"We are pleased to announce that the local tentative collective agreement was reached," said Liana Holm, President of the ETFO Rainbow Teacher Local. "We attribute this success to the support of members and the positive relationship with the Board. Once ratified, we look forward to upholding the new agreement together."
