The Cree School Board is happy to present our new website, which you will find filled with information you can use on a daily basis, whether you are a parent, a student, a community member, a candidate for employment from within the Cree Nation or elsewhere, a current employee of either the Cree School Board or another Cree entity, or a member of the media.
You'll notice that the new website url is eeyoueducation.ca; this represents our leadership's desire to be more accessible to the public and to create an ease of access and a meaningful experience for website visitors.
The new design represents more than a year of consultations with schools and departments to determine content that would be important to the public. We chose to represent the website according to our three sectors - youth, adult, and post-secondary - because we know that is how students and parents will identify yourself most immediately when searching for information. We also know that within these categories, you want the information you need to be readily accessible. We have created sections under our Youth section for parents, for example, as well as for students. This is so that the public can access relevant information most directly.
At the request of school principals in the youth sector, we have also created school websites within the main Cree School Board site. School sites have the latest news and photos, upcoming events, and general information such as contact numbers and emails. You will also be able to see any alerts that are in place for a school, for example, in the case of bus cancellations. Attached to the school websites is a community site that allows us to showcase each community in our territory.
A key focus of our 2016-2021 Strategic Action Plan was to engage students, parents and communities. We know you want to be engaged in education; you have told us that in surveys and at our Regional General Assemblies. By developing this information portal for you, we are saying that we know you need information at your fingertips.
