The Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD) Board of Trustees re-elected Shannon Cook as chair and Lory Iovinelli as vice chair for the 2024-2025 school year at an organizational board meeting held on Wednesday, June 19, at the Catholic School Centre.
Trustee Cook represents wards 9, 10, Chestermere and online learning. She has served on the Board of Trustees since 2021. Prior to her CCSD trusteeship, Trustee Cook was a Calgary Catholic Education Foundation (CCEF) board member for more than eight years. She held several roles with the CCEF, including treasurer and chair. She also served as finance chair with the Kara Community Advisory Association for 11 years and continues to serve on the finance and risk management committee for Silvera. Trustee Cook holds a Chartered Professional Accountant designation, as well as an ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors. She has two adult children who attended CCSD schools.
Trustee Iovinelli represents wards 4, 6, 7, 8 and specialized programs. She has served on the Board of Trustees since 2017. Trustee Iovinelli is a former CCSD teacher who is passionate about Catholic education and student well-being. During her CCSD trusteeship, she has held several roles both locally and provincially, including director, Alberta Catholic School Trustees' Association (ACSTA); representative, St. Mary's University; representative, Grateful Advocates for Catholic Education (GrACE) Board; and member, CCSD, GrACE Grass Roots Organization. She has filled numerous district volunteer roles since 2003, including serving as school council vice chair and chair. Trustee Iovinelli has three adult children who are CCSD graduates and one child currently enrolled in the district.

The CCSD extends our heartfelt congratulations to Trustee Cook on being re-elected as chair and Trustee Iovinelli for being re-elected as vice chair. Their dedication, vision and leadership have been instrumental in shaping our district, and we are confident that under their guidance, our schools will continue to thrive and excel. We look forward to the positive impact they will continue to make in their leadership roles as we live and learn in our Catholic faith, so that students, centred in Christ, realize their full potential.
