ONTARIO TECH UNIVERSITY
Installation of Alertus devices to enhance emergency messaging system

January 23, 2024

Ontario Tech University is enhancing security measures by installing new Alertus emergency notification devices in strategic locations inside buildings across campus.

The safety of everyone on campus is the number one priority at Ontario Tech University. As part of this commitment, the university is enhancing security measures by installing new Alertus emergency notification devices in strategic locations inside buildings across campus.

Fully integrated with the university's existing Alertus mass notification system and mobile app, the new hardware devices are an additional tool to notify the campus community in the event of high-priority, active threats on campus that have the potential to affect the immediate safety of students and employees.

The devices will be installed on walls inside labs or in other areas where public address announcements may be limited, or where a computer is not readily available.

When the devices are activated, they will flash, a high-pitched alarm will sound, and messaging will appear on the devices.

Visit ontariotechu.ca/alertus to download the Alertus Mobile App and learn how to get official campus emergency-related updates and information on your mobile device.
