The Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association is looking forward to working with Minister John Haggie in his new role as Minister of Education.
"Quality, properly resourced, publicly funded education is vital to this province and its future prosperity," said Trent Langdon, President of the Newfoundland and Labrador Teachers' Association. "I look forward to meeting with Minister Haggie soon as he takes on his new portfolio. The path ahead for K-12 education in Newfoundland and Labrador must be based in the knowledge that a strong K-12 education system is critical for our children/youth and their families, for supporting government immigration initiatives, and is necessary to ensure a healthier, more productive population. Proper resourcing of K-12 education, including teacher allocations, is an investment in the long-term prosperity of the province. I will be reaching out to Minister Haggie in due course for an initial meeting to discuss issues of importance to NLTA members and public education in this province."
The Association is also expressing best wishes to former Education Minister Tom Osborne, as he takes on his new role.
