June 27, 2025

As artificial intelligence (AI) transforms the way organizations operate, the need for professionals who can apply AI responsibly and effectively is growing rapidly. From healthcare and retail to creative sectors, AI is transforming workflows, driving innovation, and expanding the boundaries of what's possible. In response to this demand, McMaster Continuing Education has partnered with M2M Tech, a leader in AI workforce development, to launch a new program that equips learners with the practical skills to lead in today's evolving AI landscape.

This launch comes at a time of significant national and global momentum in AI adoption. According to the International Data Corporation (IDC), global investments in AI solutions and services are projected to yield a cumulative impact of $22.3 trillion by 2030. The World Economic Forum's Future of Jobs Report 2025 reveals that 40% of employers are reimagining roles due to AI-driven automation, while 70% plan to hire talent with AI skills underscoring the need for upskilling and reskilling.

The Applied AI for Industries Series is a flexible, online program offering hands-on, career-focused learning across high-demand sectors. The program series includes three self-paced courses:

  • Creative AI Applications using Generative AI
  • Developing Data and AI Applications for Healthcare
  • Developing Data and AI Applications for Retail

This program is designed for working professionals, students, and business leaders who want to understand and apply AI tools in real-world contexts. It is ideal for those interested in AI applications, including developers, engineers, data analysts, healthcare professionals such as informaticians, entrepreneurs, and marketing or retail specialists aiming to enhance operational efficiency and customer experience.

"We're proud to collaborate with McMaster Continuing Education in developing these cutting-edge Applied AI courses," says Ashok Kasilingam, Executive Director of M2M Tech. "Together, we're bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world application-preparing professionals to lead with confidence as AI transforms industries."

Participants will gain practical skills in Generative AI, healthcare AI, and retail optimization by working with real-world datasets and completing hands-on projects using tools like Azure OpenAI. The program features expert-led instruction from Microsoft-certified professionals holding credentials such as PL-300 (Power BI) and AI-900 (Azure AI).

"As different sectors embrace and adapt to the rise of artificial intelligence, the need for professionals who can harness its power responsibly and effectively has never been greater," said Ruth Chen, Acting Director, McMaster Continuing Education. "This program is designed to equip learners with the skills to navigate the evolving AI landscape, contribute to their organizations, and support innovation."
