CONSEIL SCOLAIRE CATHOLIQUE NOUVELON
Collège Notre-Dame student to compete in the 2023 Canada-Wide Science Fair

May 11, 2023

The high quality of her science project has enabled a Conseil scolaire catholique Nouvelon student to qualify for the 2023 Canada-Wide Science Fair taking place from May 14 to 19 in Edmonton. Mikella Morin, a grade 10 student at Collège Notre-Dame (Sudbury), is among the thousands emerging Canadian scientists from grades 7 through 12 to participate in some 100 regional science fairs throughout the country. She will present her research as well as compete to represent the District of Sudbury in the Canada-Wide Science Fair.

Mikella Morin stood out during the Sudbury Regional Science Fair held at Laurentian University in April. This grade 10 student at Collège Notre-Dame distinguished herself for the quality of her science project entitled "La conservation des concombres." (The Conservation of Cucumbers). Mikella placed 1st in Life Sciences for the Intermediate Division. This student was also the winner of the Laurentian University School of Natural Sciences Forensic Award.

"CSC Nouvelon students have a truly well-earned reputation for academic excellence. This time, one of our young scientists will have the opportunity to shine at the national level and take advantage of this unique, high-level science competition opportunity to reach new horizons," stated Mr. Paul Henry, CSC Nouvelon Director of Education and Secretary Treasurer. "The consistent participation of our students in the Canada-Wide Science Fair reflects the quality of the educational program provided to our students as well as the high level of excellence of our teachers in the fields of science and technology."
