Description
This posting is for 1 hourly summer position starting on June 17, with an anticipated end date of August 31, 2023.

As a Preschool Instructor II, you will plan, prepare, and deliver age-appropriate, play-based recreation camps for children ages 3 to 7 years old. Other responsibilities include working with Preschool Instructor I’s in a collaborative manner, mentoring leaders in training and communicating with parents/caregivers.  Completing set-up and take-down of some equipment, and light cleaning duties are also required.

This position requires working at various urban and rural locations with no public transit access. The locations include Kinsmen Leisure Centre, Strathcona Wilderness Centre, Ardrossan Recreation Complex and the Sherwood Park Arena.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare and implement activities for up to 20 children based on the camp description
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and positive play environment
  • Provide direction on planned activities to the Preschool Instructor I
  • Greet and welcome participants and provide parents/caregivers with daily feedback
  • Participate in training sessions, attend meetings, and maintain professionalism and preparedness for each shift
  • Communicate effectively with team members, including coworkers, supervisors, and facility staff

Requirements

Qualifications 

  • Early Childhood Development Diploma, Educational Assistant Diploma, or Bachelor of Education Degree
  • NCCP Fundamental Movement Skills is an asset
  • HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development is an asset
  • WHMIS is an asset

Conditions of Employment

  • Submission of Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Submission of Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and Child Intervention Record Check
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR-C and AED certification
  • Ability to work a minimum of six out of 8 weeks this summer.
  • Reliable transportation to work at various urban and rural locations across Strathcona County

Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Salary & Benefits

Pay Range: $24.84 - $31.06
