Hourly Teacher - English as a Second Language - Advanced (Online)
The College is seeking an hourly paid professor to join a dynamic team to teach an ONLINE non-credited course within Continuing Education in the Fall of 2023.
999-002-06 (77001) English as a Second Language Advanced Level – 40 hours - Offered online.
This 40-hour conversation course focuses on formal and advanced conversation: mastering abilities to communicate effectively, appropriately, accurately, and fluently about most topics in a wide range of contexts and situations, from predictable to unfamiliar, from general to professionally complex and from specific to nuanced, in communicatively demanding contexts.
Start Date: September 12, 2023
Holidays (no classes): none
End date: November 2, 2023
Schedule: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm
Delivery Format: Online
ROLE SUMMARY
In a general way, the professor's teaching load shall include: preparation of course outline; preparation of classes, labs and fieldwork; teaching of classes, labs and fieldwork; adaptation; support and supervision of students; preparation, invigilation and correction of examinations; revision of corrections at the students' request.
SALARY
$45.00 per hour.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- A combination of relevant diplomas or certifications in a related field, and a combination of industry experience related to the courses being taught.
- A Bachelor's degree is not required, but would be considered an asset.
- Experience teaching adult learners would also be considered an asset.
Ability to:
- Utilize excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Create a dynamic, challenging, and motivated learning environment.
- Adapt to a variety of student needs and provide appropriate academic and career development support.
- Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter through academic or non-academic experience.
- Apply theoretical concepts to current workplace needs and skill requirements.
SALARY
$45.00 per hour.
