POSITION
Hourly Teachers - Early Childhood Care and Education (Winter 2024)

The College is seeking hourly paid professors to join a dynamic team to teach credited courses within Continuing Education in the Winter 2024. These courses will be taught in an ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS format using teaching tools such as Microsoft Teams, Léa and Moodle.

ROLE SUMMARY
In a general way, the professor's teaching load shall include: preparation of course outline; preparation of classes, labs and fieldwork; teaching classes; adaptation; support and supervision of students; preparation, invigilation and correction of examinations; revision of corrections at the students’ request and other activities when required.

**All courses will be taught from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m., and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

322-793-HR Child Health (45 hours)
(Wednesdays from January 3rd until February 28th, 2024)
The purpose of this course is to help the student to develop skills to ensure children's health in the child care setting.

322-833-HR Professional Partnerships (45 hours)
(Thursdays from January 4th until February 29th, 2024)
Students will learn how to establish a partnership with parents and the resource people who intervene with the child. Students are taught appropriate strategies, methods and attitudes to facilitate the welcoming of new parents, to establish cooperation with them and to ensure educational coherence and continuity. The student will also learn how to compose reports on the child's experience using the necessary tools relevant to the situation.

322-734-HR Educational Activities for Children 0 to 2 Year of Age (60 hours)
(Fridays from January 12th until March 1st, 2024) and (Mondays & Tuesdays from February 26th to March 12th, 2024)
This course will provide the student with an understanding of how to plan, design, modify and lead educational activities for infants and toddlers while promoting their overall development.

322-709-HR Fieldwork 1: Initiation (135 hours) As required for student assessments, maximum 5 hours per student.
(Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from March 13th to April 9th, 2024)
The purpose of this course is for the student to become familiar with the components of the Fieldwork 1 course: the Manual, the Appendices, the roles and responsibilities of the various participants, reflective practice and journal-writing and developmentally appropriate practice. Students will participate in an onsite experience and will work closely with a co-operating educator and a faculty fieldwork supervisor.

322-813-HR Inclusive and Special Education (45 hours)
(Wednesdays from April 10th until June 5th, 2024)
Students will study the concept of inclusion and how it impacts their role as an educator. The primary focus will be to create curricula that are developmentally appropriate to all learners. This will include adaptations to the physical environment, programming based on individual needs and developmental level in addition to behaviour guidance strategies.

322-744-HR Educational Activities for Children 2 to 5 Year of Age (60 hours)
(Thursdays from April 11th to June 27th, 2024)
This course will provide the student with an understanding of how to plan, design, modify and lead educational activities for pre-school and kindergarten aged children while promoting their overall development.

322-V01-HR Creativity in the Workplace (45 hours)
(Fridays from April 12th until June 7th, 2024)
The purpose of this course is for the student to study the principles of creativity. The emphasis is placed on recognizing and promoting thinking within the context of the job.

322-824-HR Guidance Interventions (60 hours)
(Mondays from April 15th until July 22nd, 2024)
The purpose of this course is for the student to develop knowledge and skills with regard to guidance interventions. The student will learn guidance strategies, plan, implement and evaluate intervention plans.

322-754-HR Educational Activities for Children 5 to 12 Year of Age (60 hours)
(Tuesdays from April 16th to July 2nd, 2024)
This course will provide the student with an understanding of how to plan, design, modify and lead educational activities for 5–12-year-olds while promoting their overall development. Emphasis will be on planning for long-term projects and outings with children.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree and/or a combination of other relevant diplomas or certifications in a pertinent field is required, and a combination of industry experience related to the courses being taught.
  • To have some teaching experience would be considered an asset.
