Our website is central to our operations and outreach, and we are seeking a Board Website Administrator to manage and modernize our web presence. The Website Administrator will oversee daily operations of the Board website and its affiliated sites, ensuring high availability, security, and optimal performance and functionality. This role is ideal for someone passionate about creating accessible, innovative, and user-friendly web experiences that align with our mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and customize the WordPress content management systems (CMS) to meet organizational needs.

  • Write, edit, and optimize web content for clarity, engagement, and accessibility (AODA/WCAG standards), aligning with the Board's tone and mission.

  • Collaborate with internal departments to create and adapt written content for diverse online audiences, ensuring clarity, consistency, and alignment with organizational goals.

  • Implement and manage third-party tools and low-code platforms to enhance functionality and automation.

  • Support and integrate tools like the Google AI chatbot and collaborate with IT to maintain back-end services and emerging educational technologies.

  • Use analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics) to monitor site performance recommend improvements and implement SEO best practices to enhance visibility and engagement

  • Ensure compliance with AODA, privacy regulations, and security protocols

  • Maintain up-to-date software, plugins, and frameworks to protect against vulnerabilities

  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal teams requiring website updates or integrations

  • Document web systems and facilitate knowledge sharing for backup support and maintenance

  • Collaborate with external contractors as needed to address specific tasks or projects related to site maintenance and enhancements

  • Participate on project teams and committees as required

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • A college diploma or university degree in a relevant field, such as Interactive Multimedia Design, Development, Computer Science, etc.

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in digital platform management, preferably within a communications context

  • Proficiency in WordPress development, including custom theme and plugin customization

  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and web analytics tools (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, HotJar, etc.)

  • Familiarity with popular CMS architectures (WordPress, Contentful, Sanity CMS, etc)

  • Proficiency in enhancing web layouts using HTML and CSS

  • Understanding of accessibility standards (AODA/WCAG) and inclusive design principles

  • Exemplary interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently, coordinating and prioritizing multiple assignments and the ability to take initiative

  • Demonstrated customer service focus and detail-oriented

  • Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills

  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly

  • Excellent project management and problem-solving skills

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered

 

The following would be considered an asset:

  • Experience with back-end technologies (PHP, Node.js) and database management (MySQL)

  • Proficiency in JavaScript and PHP and/or their respective frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Laravel, etc)

  • Strong understanding of UX/UI principles, responsive design, and effective communication strategies

  • Experience with educational technology and learning management systems

 

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent assignment with an anticipated start date as soon as the recruitment process has been completed. The annual salary range for this role is $92,779 - $100,637. A comprehensive employee benefits and pension package are provided.
