NOVA SCOTIA COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Nova Scotia Community College reaches 2020 enrolment goal

October 5, 2020

A total of 10,049 students were enrolled in diploma, advanced diploma and certificate programs at Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) campuses across the province as of September 30, 2020 the annual date for the College's official milestone enrolment count.

"This has been an exceptional year. Amidst a global pandemic, we anticipated and responded to the changing environment, ensured the health and safety of our communities, and maintained our commitment to a quality educational experience for students," says NSCC Academic Vice President Anna Burke.

This year's September 30 milestone enrolment count reflects changes in program delivery that were part of NSCC's response to Covid-19. These changes include moving all programming to online or blended delivery and delayed starts in several programs. Approximately 600 students who would normally be captured in the September 30 enrolment count will begin their programs later in the academic year.

In addition to the 10,049 students captured in this year's official enrolment count, over the course of the full academic year, NSCC will welcome students through our full suite of 2020-21 offerings, including apprenticeship, continuing education, customized training and continuous intake.

NSCC's revised 2020-21 program plan allowed the delivery of 130+ programs according to public health guidelines, while upholding NSCC's commitments to academic integrity and excellence in teaching and learning. The changes also ensured program offerings match the needs and demands of the province's rapidly changing economy.

"NSCC is well-positioned to serve our learners and our province through the uncertainties caused by a global pandemic," says Burke. "We will continue to place the safety of our community and the quality of our programming at the heart of our decision-making and planning."

NSCC conducts a follow up survey with our graduates each year and those results show that 90% are employed, most in their field of study, with 91% of those employed living and working in Nova Scotia. These students are living the mission of the College: through education and innovation, they're growing the province's economy and quality of life.

Our 2021-22 programming will be published on nscc.ca on October 19 and offers of admission will begin mid-November. Applicants are encouraged to apply early to increase the likelihood of securing their program of choice.
