April 8, 2024

Saskatchewan Polytechnic's Human Resources Management certificate program has recently received accreditation from Chartered Professionals in Human Resources (CPHR) Saskatchewan. Sask Polytech's Business diploma in Human Resources previously received accreditation from CPHR Saskatchewan in 2020. Graduates of these two business programs with an overall cumulative average of 70 per cent or higher are eligible to waive the National Knowledge Exam (NKE) to become CPHR candidates. Graduates must submit their waiver and fee within five years of graduating from the programs.

"We are pleased to announce our continued commitment to program excellence through accreditation with CPHR Saskatchewan," says Kristen Craig, Sask Polytech School of Business dean. "As we renew our accreditation for the Business diploma in Human Resources and extend it to include the Human Resources Management certificate, we affirm our dedication to preparing our students for success. This acknowledgment underscores our commitment to fostering robust industry partnerships while upholding the highest standards of educational excellence."

The CPHR designation represents a commitment to a national standard of excellence and sets a benchmark for the practice of effective human resources. It emphasizes the strategic role of HR management in business and plays an important role in securing HR's position as an equal business partner at the executive table. The CPHR designation demonstrates to employers that individuals are HR experts and adhere to CPHR Saskatchewan's Code of Ethics and Standards of Professional Conduct.

"Saskatchewan business and the public have expectations for the human resources profession to support and influence best HR practice. Accredited programs establish the standards that govern the education and knowledge to ensure HR practitioners are skilled to deliver competent and ethical HR practice in the workplace," says Nicole Norton Scott, executive director and registrar CPHR Saskatchewan.

Sask Polytech's School of Business programs provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human resources principles and practices, preparing them for successful careers in this dynamic field. With the added accreditation from CPHR Saskatchewan, graduates can further enhance their professional credentials and stand out in the competitive job market.
