CONSEIL SCOLAIRE PUBLIC DU NORD-EST DE L'ONTARIO
CSPNE celebrates 25 years in 2023

January 25, 2023

On January 1, 1998, the government of Ontario announced the creation of 12 French-language school boards. The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CSPNE) was created. Proud to offer a quality French education based on commitment and authenticity for 25 years now, the CSPNE is celebrating a quarter century of existence by highlighting its successes and those of its schools.

In celebration, several activities and festivities are planned from January to June 2023. The first of these is the Grand défi 25+. Developed to bring together those from all school communities who have actively contributed to the development of CSPNE over the past 25 years, the challenge dares students, their families, school and board staff to be active and cumulate kilometers and apply them towards a common goal. To celebrate inclusion, a format has been created that allows participants to count kilometers - on the website - in a variety of ways. For example, in addition to physical activity, a student who participates in a Francophone community event or commits an act of kindness will earn extra kilometers. The total amount of kilometers targeted by the CSPNE is 1,161,325, equivalent to the size of its territory (46,453 km2) multiplied by 25 years of existence.

In addition to the Grand défi 25+, several surprise school and community activities will be unveiled until June 2023. In addition to being a great way to celebrate this important anniversary, the festivities will allow the CSPNE to recognize the multitude of people who have contributed to the success of these students for 25 years.

In closing, the CSPNE would like to thank some of our community partners who are supporting and contributing to the success of this anniversary.  Thank you to Le Centre Franco, Université de l'Ontario français, Collège Boréal and LaCité college for being part of our festivities.

We invite you to join in the festivities and celebrate with us. Because a quarter of a century is worth celebrating in style!

In accordance with universal values, the CSPNE covers an area of 46,453 km2 and provides the communities of Hearst, Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Temiskaming Shores, Sturgeon Falls, North Bay and Parry Sound with quality French-language education. Close to 2,100 northeastern Ontario students have chosen French-language public schools.
