Congratulations to the Vanier Robotics Team that took 3rd place overall at TakTik, the 2025 CRC Robotics Competition that took place February 19-22, when hundreds of excited and ambitious Montreal high school and Cegep students hoped their robots, their imagination and their ingenuity would win them recognition.
The Vanier Team did themselves proud, taking top honours in several categories. They earned first place in Robot Construction, first place in the Programming Competition, second place for the Video Tutorial, and third place in Kiosk design and construction. To top it off, the Vanier Team also took home the first-place trophy for Sportsmanship.
On Friday, February 21, the Vanier Team was also treated to the presence of Vanier Director General Benoit Morin, Dean of Academic Development and Research Avery Rueb, and Learning Commons Coordinator Caroline Fodor, all cheering them on and offering encouragement from the sidelines.
In the CRC competition, a working robot is only one part of the challenge. In this contest, as in the modern work world, a project needs all kinds of talents to succeed. Engineering projects require not just a design and building team, but also a management team, as well as a marketing team of artists and writers and a team of website designers. It's this range of know-how and skills, and the sense of team spirit that the CRC Robotics Competition aims to recognize with awards in various categories: Robot (Game), Design and Construction, bilingual Video production, Kiosk, Website, and a few prizes voted by the teams such as Sportsmanship.
As well, in this unique competition, all the work is done exclusively by students - teachers, engineers, and outside specialists are welcome but for advice only. Except for a motor and a control box that each team receives, everything about the robot, the kiosk, the video, and the website is conceived and built by the students, and where language is necessary, both French and English must be used.
Congratulations to the talented, determined and hard-working Vanier Team and their outstanding results at the 2025 CRC Robotics Competition!
