Lakeland Catholic School Division proudly celebrates Siobhan Squires as a recipient of the Council of Catholic School Superintendents of Alberta (CCSSA) Excellence in Cath- olic Education Award a prestigious honor recognizing her unwavering commitment to faith, leadership, and service in Catholic education.
Siobhan's unwavering commitment to Catholic education and her ability to inspire those around her make her an exemplary role model. She is wholeheartedly deserving of this recognition as her contributions are sure to continue positively impacting her communi- ty for years to come. At Assumption Junior/Senior High School, Siobhan organizes litur- gies, ensuring that each one is meaningful and reflective of our Catholic values. She also co-leads the choir, inspiring students to express their faith through music to enhance our liturgical experiences.
Additionally, Siobhan has established faith leadership groups, empowering students to take active roles in their spiritual de- velopment and encouraging them to live out their faith in daily life. As a Youth Minister within the school division, Siobhan is actively involved in division-wide, student faith formation with the passionate desire to grow & maintain student involvement while they transition from one school to another.
Siobhan exemplifies the Christian principle of seeing Christ in everyone through her compassionate interactions and inclusive initiatives within our school community. She fosters an environment where each individual is valued and encouraged to grow spiritually. Her approach reflects the teaching that recognizing the image of Christ in others leads to deeper connections and a more harmonious community.
Beyond her teaching responsibilities, Siobhan actively participates in community outreach programs, organizing events that bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds to celebrate and strengthen our shared faith. Her efforts have not only enriched our community but have also inspired others to contribute their time and talents to these meaningful initiatives. Siobhan is a proud wife and mother of one daughter and one son. She is genuinely on fire for faith' and contagiously lives out the LCSD faith theme to "encourage one another and build each other up" (1 Thessalonians 5:11).
"I am deeply honored to receive this award and feel privileged to work alongside such incredible people. I have the opportu- nity to continue God's work in the community where I grew up, a place that helped shape my faith. My hope is to do the same for our students, guiding them in their faith journey within our community," reflected Siobhan Squires.
Superintendent, Sheldon Germain highlighted the significance of Siobhan's impact, stating:
