CONESTOGA COLLEGE
Schulich Builders Scholarships recognize Conestoga students pursuing careers in skilled trades

October 23, 2025

Ten Conestoga students have been named among this year's recipients of the Schulich Builders Scholarships for Skilled Trades.

Launched in February 2023 by The Schulich Foundation, Schulich Builders Scholarships award hard-working students aspiring towards a career in a skilled trade. Students must be enrolled in an eligible diploma or certificate program. The Schulich Builders program also serves as a catalyst to help amplify the in-demand job opportunities that exist across Canada.

"Being a Schulich Builder let me focus on my education at Conestoga. The support from the scholarship eased financial worries and gave me more confidence in my day-to-day life," said Landon Hyatt, a 2023 scholarship recipient.

"The opportunities and resources offered also cannot be ignored. A job fair that I attended because of the Schulich Foundation was integral in shaping where I am today. My program at the college, Welding Techniques, taught me both fundamental and niche skills that I use every day at my job."

Out of a pool of over 380,000 potential candidates across Canada, more than 1,000 students were nominated, of which 120 received this award in 2025. Awards are valued at $40,000 for a two-year diploma program and $20,000 for a one-year certificate program.

"We are proud to support students in the skilled trades and open doors to this meaningful career path," said Judy Schulich, Director of The Schulich Foundation. "Behind every home built and every community strengthened are the tradespeople who make it possible. Today, the shortage of these skilled workers is holding Canada back and that's why investing in young people who choose this path is one of the most impactful ways we can build a stronger, more prosperous country for all."
