November 17, 2025

More than 230 high school students from across Saskatchewan brought their A-game to a high-energy Business diploma case competition hosted by Saskatchewan Polytechnic and the Saskatchewan Rush, Saskatoon Entertainment Group's National Lacrosse League team.

Held at Sask Polytech's Moose Jaw and Prince Albert campuses, the case competition saw students from 25 high schools compete for a share of more than $64,000 in prizes including Business diploma tuition credits, Saskatchewan Rush experiences and game-day perks. Every student who participated received a voucher for a free ticket to a Rush game this season.

In teams of three to four, high school students tackled the challenge of pitching bold, creative strategies to help the Saskatchewan Rush build lasting connections with Gen Z fans over the next decade. Their creative pitches were judged by business experts from Saskatoon Entertainment Group, Sask Polytech and Westland Insurance.

"As the sports and entertainment industry continues to grow and evolve, we felt this was an excellent opportunity to engage with youth in our province," says Tyler Wawryk, vice-president of Team Business Operations for Sask Entertainment Group. "We're thrilled to meet and learn from the students and to do our part in educating them and showcasing the exciting career opportunities within our industry."

"At Sask Polytech hands-on, work-integrated learning opportunities like this are included throughout the Business diploma program, this event gives high school students the opportunity to experience hands-on learning at Moose Jaw and Prince Albert campuses," says Stephen Kirzinger, program head for the Business diploma sport management specialty. "Thank you to the Saskatchewan Rush for being such a great case competition partner, you brought the energy!
