ALGONQUIN AND LAKESHORE CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
St. Martha Catholic School receives accessibility award from City of Kingston

December 5, 2025

The Celebrating Accessibility Awards recognize a person, group, or organization that has made or is making a significant contribution towards improving access for persons with disabilities in Kingston.

Congratulations to St. Martha Catholic School for being a recipient of the City of Kingston's Celebrating Accessibility Awards under the community organization heading. Lauren Kirk, Chair of the school's Catholic school council and Principal Lisa Bickerstaffe attended the awards event on December 1.

This is what the City of Kingston had to say about St. Martha: "St. Martha Catholic School has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to accessibility and inclusion by creating an inclusive playground. After successfully fundraising, the school consulted with KidsInclusive staff and community members to ensure the design would meet the needs of their students and neighbourhood families. Beyond their own playground, St. Martha's has supported the Inclusive Play Project through multiple fundraisers, inspiring meaningful conversations within local school boards about making recess accessible for all."

The awards are given in three categories: business, community member, and community organization.
