Brandon University (BU) saluted more than 50 employees on Thursday, holding a ceremony in Harvest Hall to recognize their long-term commitment.
The Long Service Employee Recognition Event is held each year in honour of faculty and staff members who have reached five-year milestones of 10 years or more at BU. This year, 54 employees, with a remarkable 910 years of cumulative service, were recognized. Employees were presented with pins commemorating their time at BU during Thursday's ceremony.
"We're not just celebrating individual achievements, but also the bonds we share, working together, learning together and lifting each other up," BU President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Christine Bovis-Cnossen told the assembled employees and guests. "Thank you for being the heart of our university. Your service makes a difference every single day.
Among this year's honourees is Department of Psychology Professor, Dr. Barry Corenblum, who has completed 50 years of service at BU.
"I can't imagine the number of students he's taught and the impact he's had," Dr. Bovis-Cnossen said during the ceremony. "He's not with us, because he's with students in an exam right now. That's dedication."
Dr. Corenblum is just the third BU employee to be recognized for reaching the 50-year milestone since the inception of the event and the second in the last two years.
