New Era School is proud to announce an outstanding achievement by our Grade 3 students, who earned First Place in the Culture Award at the CBC Music Challenge - Fall Edition 2025. This special award recognizes performances that feature non-Western musical instruments or celebrate youth cultural identity through music and includes a $2,000 MusiCounts grant. It is selected from over 400 submissions across Canada, making New Era the only school in Manitoba to receive the First-Place distinction.
Our students also placed in the Top 10 nationally in Category 1: Elementary Performance (Kindergarten to Grade 3). Beginning their preparations in September and recording in October, students performed the song "Paper Heart" using singing, barred instruments, bells, drumming, and piano, with a focus on unison singing, steady beat, and ensemble balance. Students created original drum rhythms inspired by the lyrics, chanting "Love is the language you speak every day," highlighting creativity, teamwork, and confidence while sharing a powerful message of love and harmony.
