The University of New Brunswick and Irving Oil are pleased to announce a new scholarship in support of engineering students at UNB.

The Irving Oil Engineering Scholarship is valued at $20,000 each and will be presented to five students per year, beginning this fall, with each recipient awarded $10,000 per year for two years. The scholarships will be awarded to New Brunswick students who have completed the minimum requirements for the second year of the Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree program in either the electrical, chemical or mechanical paths, with preference given to students enrolled in the engineering co-op program.

The mission of UNB Engineering, Canada's first engineering faculty, is to develop world-class engineers, inspire leaders, conduct impactful research and advance engineering knowledge to address societal challenges.

"UNB is proud of our longstanding strategic partnership with Irving Oil, and deeply grateful for the opportunities they continue to create for New Brunswick students," said UNB's acting president and vice chancellor, Dr. Kathy Wilson. "The Irving Oil Engineering Scholarship is an investment in our shared future, helping to prepare highly skilled graduates who will contribute to innovation, economic growth and resilient communities across Atlantic Canada."

"Irving Oil and UNB share a common commitment to developing the next generation of problem solvers," said Irving Oil President & CEO Jeff Matthews. "We are proud to support engineering education at UNB through this scholarship program, helping aspiring engineers to pursue careers that will shape the future of energy, infrastructure and technology.".

The inaugural recipients of the Irving Oil Engineering Scholarship will be announced in the coming months.
