HALTON CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD
St. Marguerite d'Youville Places 3rd in OCSTA Short Video Contest

January 22, 2019

We are thrilled to announce that St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Elementary School came in third place in the Ontario Catholic School Trustees' Association (OCSTA) short video contest!

The annual OCSTA short-video contests for students is an opportunity to explore and demonstrate what it means to experience a Catholic education. This year, the contest's theme was "Community Builders", and challenged students in Grades 4-12 to demonstrate how their school or parish-based charitable initiatives strengthened their community.

Out of hundreds of submissions received across the province, St. Marguerite d'Youville was one of the 21 schools (and the only HCDSB school) chosen to advance to the finals!

Finalist submissions were then posted online as part of the voting process, and closed on Monday, December 31, 2018.

"In our Catholic schools, students are taught that to serve others in the community who are in need is to live according to Gospel values that make our world a better place for everyone," said Beverly Eckensweiler, OCSTA President and Chair of the Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board. "Students feel compelled to act when they see people in need and instances in their communities where their own unique gifts can be put to good use. Our excellent teachers and staff in Catholic schools help to guide students in developing their talents and potential, and this year's student short video contest really helped to highlight that attribute of our system."

Congratulations to the students and staff at St. Marguerite d'Youville Catholic Elementary School on this amazing accomplishment!
