High Prairie School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Jessie Johnson as the Director of Mental Health Services. The Director of Mental Health Services will oversee the development and implementation of comprehensive mental health programs, ensuring alignment with provincial and federal regulations. This role is designed to proactively address the mental, emotional, and behavioural health needs within the division through strategic planning, collaboration, and leadership.
Superintendent and CEO Murray Marran emphasized the importance of this new role. "We recognize that mental health is integral to the success and well-being of our students and staff. By introducing the Director of Mental Health Services position, we are taking action to address mental health challenges, build resilience, and foster a positive culture in our schools and community."
Jessie Johnson has worked with High Prairie School Division since 2016, first as a Wellness Coach for High Prairie Elementary School, then moving into the position of Counselling Consultant in 2020. Jessie holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Calgary and a Master of Social Work in Indigenous Trauma & Resiliency from the University of Toronto.
Jessie stated, "I appreciate the opportunity to continue my journey with the High Prairie School Division. I have confidence in the strong foundation of our mental health programming, and I am eager to continue building upon that foundation."
