Clayton La Touche has been appointed Director of Education for the Toronto District School Board (TDSB). The appointment will take effect February 10, 2025.
La Touche is currently Assistant Deputy Minister, Student Support and Field Services Division, with the Ministry of Education. Prior to his secondment to the ministry in September 2021, Clayton served for three years as the Associate Director of Education, Schools and Operations, with the York Region District School Board.
Beginning his career as a teacher with the Toronto District School Board in 1994, La Touche moved to the York Region District School Board in 2000 as an elementary school vice-principal. There, he served in progressively more senior roles including Principal, Centrally-Assigned Principal, and Superintendent of Education of both schools and Human Resource Services - Operations prior to taking on the Associate Director role.
Throughout his career, La Touche has built a reputation as an inclusive, collaborative leader with a deep commitment to equitable achievement and well-being outcomes for all students. He is dedicated to the advancement of public education.
The appointment of Clayton Touche brings to a close a four-month recruitment process overseen by the Director Search Committee that included stakeholder consultation on Director of Education job criteria, and desired experience and background that helped inform the candidate profile.

- Stacey Zucker, who has served as Interim Director of Education since November 1, 2024, will remain in the role until Mr. La Touche's appointment takes effect. After which, she will return to her role as the TDSB's Associate Director, Modernization and Strategic Resource Alignment.
