On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team, we are pleased to announce that Lauren Mitchell has been appointed Principal of Niakwa Place School, effective Aug. 1, 2025. The Board of Trustees confirmed her appointment at the May 20 Regular Board Meeting
Lauren joined the Louis Riel School Division in 2007 after nine years of teaching in Alberta. She held various teaching positions at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate before transitioning to the Senior Years Instructional Support Coordinator role in 2012. In 2020, Lauren was appointed Vice-Principal of Niakwa Place School.

Lauren fosters a positive and inclusive learning environment where every student feels valued and supported. She uses humour to build strong connections and create an atmosphere of trust and approachability. With a deep sense of respect for her students and colleagues, Lauren collaborates effectively to enhance learning experiences. Her encouraging and thoughtful approach helps students recognize their strengths and realize their full potential.
Lauren's extensive experience in both classroom teaching and instructional leadership positions her well to lead Niakwa Place School with vision, care, and a deep understanding of student and staff needs.
