Superior-Greenstone DSB Announces Appointment of New Student Trustee

The Superior-Greenstone District School Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Rylee McLeod, a student at Lake Superior High School, as the new Student Trustee. Rylee was elected by his peers through the Student Senate election process and was officially appointed at the Board Meeting held on May 27, 2025. He will begin his two-year term on August 31, 2025, serving until July 31, 2027.

Rylee is a Grade 10 student and member of the cross-country running team and Jr. Boys Basketball team. He succeeds Student Trustee Zoey Krause, who has served in the role since 2023. The Board extends its gratitude to Zoey for her leadership and dedication over the past two years.

Joining Student Trustee Miley Anthony and the current Indigenous Student Trustee Anna Kentner, Rylee will help lead the Student Senate and support the work of the Indigenous Youth Council. Together, they will continue to strengthen student voice across the district and promote inclusive, student-centered initiatives.

"Student Trustees play a vital role in shaping the direction of our Board through advocacy and collaboration. Rylee's passion and commitment to student voice will be a valuable asset as we work together to engage students through meaningful learning and empower them for success."

Rylee shared his excitement about the appointment, saying, "I'm looking forward to talking to students and meeting with other Trustees. I look forward to learning about what Student Senators are doing in their schools to bring different ideas and insight to our district, because if there is a better way to do something, then I think that is an option worth pursuing".
