I am pleased to announce the appointment of Sandra Tullio-Pow as interim dean, The Creative School, effective July 1, 2025. Sandra will serve as interim until the search for The Creative School's next dean is completed.
I would like to thank Sandra for accepting this interim role and for her continued dedication to The Creative School and TMU.
Sandra Tullio-Pow, a 30-year School of Fashion veteran and current associate dean, will lead The Creative School as interim dean starting July 1 while a permanent replacement is sought.
Sandra joined the dean's office in 2020 and is currently the associate dean of Undergraduate Education and Student Affairs as well as a professor in the School of Fashion. A valued member of the School of Fashion for over 30 years, Sandra has incrementally honed her administration and leadership skills through several years of service as the Undergraduate program director, the founding program director, Master of Arts (MA) in Fashion, and interim chair for the School of Fashion. In her role as associate dean she chaired the faculty curriculum committee and was an integral member of the 360 steering and Creative School Experience development committees. She has focused on mentoring tenure track faculty, nurtured innovation in teaching and learning, and managed Schools navigating the periodic program review process.
As a researcher, Sandra has used design to improve the human experience. Her research is interdisciplinary and collaborative, recent projects include inventing clothing for extraordinary groups, specifically: police officers, patients in hospital rehabilitation programs, breast cancer survivors, women with lymphedema, women who wear plus size, people who are transgender, those with low vision and most recently, wearable technology that integrates disinfection using UVC light. She has won the dean's SRC award twice, holds a patent for a sling integrated into a purse. Her expertise is designing apparel solutions that consider the clothing taskscape to improve quality of life.
I would like to thank The Creative School colleagues for their feedback during the consultation process and for their overwhelming support for the appointment of Sandra in this interim role.
