May 1, 2026

Brock University has appointed Anthony Betts as its Associate Vice-President of Information Technology Services (ITS), effective May 25.

With more than 25 years of information technology (IT) experience, including 12 years in the post-secondary sector, Betts brings extensive expertise to strengthen Brock's digital environment and drive modernization of the University's technology ecosystem.

Brock University has named Anthony Betts as Associate Vice-President, Information Technology Services.

Betts joins Brock from the University of Toronto Mississauga, where he oversees digital strategy and technology operations for a campus of about 17,000 students as Director of Information and Instructional Technology Services. He also previously managed IT Client Services at the University.

Betts combines strong technical insight with a people-centred approach. Committed to continuous improvement and service excellence, he has effectively led large-scale platform transformations and governance initiatives that align technology with academic and administrative needs.

"Brock's strategic plan signals an ongoing institutional commitment to leverage technology as a genuine enabler of research, student success and sustainable operations, and I'm excited to champion the University's digital future," he says. "I look forward to joining the Brock community and working with faculty, staff and students to elevate IT service delivery across the organization."

As Brock advances a refreshed operating model, Betts will be responsible for client services, enterprise systems, infrastructure, cybersecurity, learning technologies and project portfolio management.

"The Associate Vice-President of Information Technology Services is an influential institutional partner and plays a critical role in advancing a modern, resilient digital environment," says Scott Johnstone, Vice-President, Administration and Services. "Anthony's depth of experience and ability to build strong partnerships position him well to deliver the transformative outcomes that support Brock's long-term success."

Supporting Betts' transition to Brock is current Interim Associate Vice-President, Information Technology Services Peter Gilbert. For the past several months, Gilbert has provided strong leadership to the ITS team while also sitting on the Artificial Intelligence Working Group and acting as Co-Chair of the Student Information System Working Group.
